Loren Fong is a Professor of Medicine in the division of cardiology at UCLA’s David Geffen School of Medicine. Dr. Fong did his undergraduate studies at UCD, and his Ph.D. training in the department of pharmacology at UCLA. Following postdoctoral studies in lipoprotein metabolism at UCD with Dr. Daniel Steinberg, he joined the faculty at the PAMF research institute in Palo Alto to pursue studies on lipoprotein oxidation, macrophage foam cell formation, and chylomicron remnant metabolism. In 2004, Dr. Fong returned to Los Angeles and joined the faculty at UCLA. His laboratory currently investigates mechanisms of intravascular triglyceride metabolism and the childhood premature aging disease Hutchinson-Gilford progeria syndrome.
